The last day the Howells were here we finished our historical tour by going to Yorktown. We got there early, before the extreme heat, and we were able to spend some time in the farm area, the museum, and then we saw the re-enactments. After watching them shoot the guns and cannons we decided to find some shade for some lunch. The girls still wanted to go back in and play dress up with the colonial clothes so after a quiet Trolley tour of historic Yorktown sights we headed back in to play dress up. On the way home Caedmon, Jeff, and I decided that maybe the kids should ask the parents questions about the day to see if we would get dessert. The kids had a good time thinking up questions, asking them, and trying to stump us. Overall we did well and we all got dessert. :)
A little background: Several weeks before the Howells left for there vacation Cora called to ask me a couple of questions, both involving food. She wanted me to make asparagus because her mom likes them and she and Kam finished them before her mom could get some and she wanted to bob for apples. I told Jeff about bobbing for apples which he thought was disgusting. :) Needless to say we didn't end up eating asparagus, but we did get to bob for apples. Kam went first and she had to try and figure it out without watching anyone. Well, Jeff decided that he could show them all how to do it so he leaned down and got his apple within seconds. One problem...when Jeff came up with the apple Nate pointed at him and started crying. As soon as Jeff removed the apple Nate was fine. But anytime afterward that anyone came up with the apple, Nate would start bawling like his world was ending. We are still not sure why, but it was funny to watch. I finally did take pity on the kid and we went inside while the kids were doing round 2 of apple bobbing. I hope the kids had fun and that bobbing apples was as much fun as they thought it would be. :)

Great pictures but one is missing... the one with Tiffany and Kara. So everyone who reads your blog can see how much you look alike (or not as much as when you were kids)
