Homeschool Preschool

So this past year Kathryn started talking about doing stuff with Lisa for preschool.  Well after much talking, going to a homeschool conference, and research we decided to start our own preschool.  We have four families that are rotating houses (and therefore rotating teachers).  So that means that we have 4 kids "enrolled" in our preschool (we really should name it. :)  This first week, we hosted and I got to teach the kids the letter "A".  We were missing Carter but hopefully he can join us next week. :)

The book we were reading, Apple Farmer Annie, had a recipe in the back for apple muffins so we started school by making some muffins.
Each kid got to add 2 ingredients...

Nate added some flour

Lisa some milk and they all got to stir!
After making muffins we talked about how "arm" starts with "A" which of course required singing the Hokey-Pokey. :)  We then moved onto our verse for the day, Proverbs 15:1
"A soft answers turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."

Finally we made some "A" alligators.

I think the little alligators turned out GREAT!!  (Thanks pinterest!)
After the craft we read the "Apple Farmer Annie" book followed by a little play time till our muffins cooled.
Of course we couldn't forget the apple muffins and apples for snack time.

Even Henry and Coley joined us for a little snack.
I look forward to next week when Erin will be teaching the kids about the letter "B". :)
