After the Badlands and Wall Drug we all went to The Chuck Wagon for dinner. Since Mom and Dad were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this was what they wanted to do to celebrate. By this point in the day everyone was kind of tired and a little grumpy but the evening made up for it. The grounds had several buildings that you could shop or learn something about the pioneer lifestyle. Cora made a dinner plate and both of our kids "paned for gold" (read: splashed in the water). The dinner was very good and an incredible fast process. They had everyone get up from either tables in an organized fashion and go down the line to get your food. I think they feed about 120 people in about 12-15 mins. After we were done eating the kids were all getting restless and wanted to go home, that is until the music started. Nate had been asking to leave however once the cowboys got up and started sing/playing he was all in. He clapped entire through the first 2.5 songs even if they weren't clapping songs. He LOVED it. Of course the best part was the last song. They had one of the cowboys dress up like Elvis and sing a meddle of his songs. Well, after asking several ladies to dance he finally got my sister up on the table and danced with her!!! We all loved it! When we got back to Denver I asked Nate what his favorite part of the trip was and he told me, "When Cosette's mommy got up on the table and danced with that guy." I do have video evidence but that might have to stay within the family. :)
A busy day = naps in the car.
Unfortunately, we lost one. ;(
Nate riding his first buffalo.
Who gave that kid a license? I guess they didn't need one back then.
Dinner. We were told to hold the plate under the apple sauce because the rest of the plate got hot.
She could have played in this all night long. She thought it was so much fun.
Here is the plate Cora helped make. We could have bought it for a price.
And just what exactly are the charges? Organic chemist on the noose.
Nate's favorite past time...kicking in the dirt.
Where's the grub?
Hungry Howell's
